Indoor Pitching Mounds

Indoor Pitching Mounds

Here in the Great North East winter has descended upon us with all of her glory… snow, sleet, negative temperatures and very few daylight hours.  That being said there is still hope for all of you baseball and softball players out there, especially pitchers.

As you should know by now becoming a great pitcher requires hours upon hours of training and practice.  You need to hone in your skills and build that muscle memory in order to throw your fastest pitch accurately time and time again.  Unfortunately in the winter months this can become difficult as you will need to replicate the correct pitching height and distance of a real field in order to build the proper muscle memory.

There are many models of indoor pitching mounds available for baseball and plenty of pitching mats available for softball.

Today are focus is the pitching mound for baseball.  Obviously my suggestion is that you purchase a regulation height mound otherwise your wasting time and money. While these are quite expensive they are durable and should last for many years with proper care.

Proper care meaning simple things like do not store near extreme heat as the interior of most mounds is high density foam. Oh and as this has happened to a customer I know I will mention it.  Do not store your pitching mound in an area that is know to be the home of rodents.  They will find the mound and borough their way through the foam to nest inside of it as high density foam offers great insulating properties.

You can find a complete selection of indoor pitching mounds at www.morleyathletic.com.  Once you select the mound that fits your requirements and price range all you need is an appropriate indoor space to practice.  Any large gymnasium will do.  Place your mound and measure out the proper distance to the plate.  Give your catcher some knee supports so they can handle the hours of practicing to come and start pitching.

Indoor pitching mounds add realism and value to indoor practicing during the pre-season months.  While their cost is higher than most training aids you will get every penny back out of them when your pitcher throws his first no hitter or strikes out the opposing teams homerun king.

Check out the Pitching Mound Store for more information and to view a wide selection pitching mounds.  You can also point your browser to the Baseball & Softball catalog for all of your other needs.
